At ULRV, we are proud to support a transformative initiative designed to bridge the racial homeownership gap through strategic partnerships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs), and other Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs). Our efforts align with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) mission to expand access to housing counseling services and create new educational and career opportunities for students and communities.
Our partnerships focus on:
- Providing HUD-approved housing counseling services to students, faculty, and community members to promote financial literacy and increase homeownership.
- Offering workshops on topics such as student loan impact on homebuying, responsible renting, and preparing for homeownership.
- Developing internships and career pathways that prepare the next generation of HUD-certified housing counselors.
- Encouraging workforce development by equipping students with real-world skills in housing counseling, financial management, and community engagement.
Through collaborations with HCAs (Housing Counseling Agencies), students can participate in hands-on internships, build financial competency, and gain practical experience addressing housing issues within their communities. Some programs offer scholarships and culminate with students taking the HUD certification exam, opening doors to impactful careers in housing counseling and community development.
This initiative spans multiple states, including Georgia, Texas, Florida, and North Carolina, reaching diverse communities and empowering students and families alike.
