The Urban League of the River Valley’s (ULRV) Financial Empowerment Center (FEC) is proud to offer a comprehensive Homebuyer Program designed to guide individuals and families through every step of the homebuying process. Our program is tailored to meet the needs of first-time homebuyers as well as those looking to re-enter the housing market, providing the education, resources, and support necessary to make informed decisions and achieve successful homeownership.
What We Offer:
Our Homebuyer Program is a free public service that provides both group workshops and one-on-one counseling sessions. We cover all aspects of the homebuying process, ensuring that our clients are well-prepared for the financial responsibilities of owning a home. Key components of the program include:
- Homebuyer Education Courses: These courses cover essential topics such as understanding the homebuying process, budgeting for a home, evaluating credit, and securing a mortgage. Our curriculum is designed to meet HUD and National Industry Standards for homebuyer education, ensuring that clients receive the highest quality guidance.
- Down Payment Assistance: We provide information and access to various down payment assistance programs that can help make homeownership more affordable. Our counselors work with clients to identify and apply for these resources.
- Pre-Purchase Counseling: Our one-on-one counseling sessions offer personalized advice on financial readiness, credit improvement, and mortgage options. We help clients develop a clear plan to achieve their homeownership goals.
- Post-Purchase Support: Homeownership doesn’t end at closing. We continue to support our clients with resources and counseling on topics such as home maintenance, budgeting as a homeowner, and avoiding foreclosure.
Introducing the HOME Initiative:
As part of our commitment to empowering homebuyers, we are excited to introduce the HOME Initiative (Home Ownership & Mortgage Education). The HOME Initiative is an online platform that serves as a one-stop destination for all your homeownership needs. This initiative is a collaboration between ULRV and McDougle and Associates, designed to provide comprehensive resources, tools, and education to prospective and existing homeowners.
Through the HOME Initiative, clients can access a wide range of services, including:
